從多源基因體序列資料中有效組裝出病毒全基因體工具之開發
NHRI researcher develops drVM: a new tool for efficient genome assembly of known eukaryotic viruses from metagenomes

現今使用高通量的次世代定序技術來解析樣本中的病原基因體方法已漸趨成熟，因此可以應用來鑑識出樣本中的病原體；然而，實際上操作、分析這樣的序列資料是須要先配置特定的分析工具，再經過繁瑣的分析步驟與一連串的資料解析程序，才能夠獲得最終想獲得的病原體資訊。

因此，本院群體健康科學研究所廖玉潔助研究員研究團隊開發一套易於使用（user-friendly）且具有圖形化操作介面（graphical user interface）的drVM工具（detect and reconstruct known viral genomes from metagenomes, drVM），來有效地組裝多源基因體（metagenomes）序列資料中的病毒基因體。並將程式包裝成虛擬機器（virtual machine），方便使用者可以直接下載、匯入後使用；除此之外，也提供進階使用者直接使用程式碼和各種通用的映像檔，包括Amazon machine image以及Docker。〈更多內容〉

Position Open: Director, Institute of Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical Research

Applicants and nominations are invited for the position of Director of the Institute of Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical Research at the National Health Research Institutes (NHRI), Taiwan.

The Director is responsible for supervision of research and development programs within the institute, as well as collaborations with other sections of NHRI and with industrial partners. Eligible applicants should have a doctorate (Ph.D. and/or M.D.) degree with a demonstrated record of productive, interdisciplinary research in drug discovery and development, as well as knowledge in international drug discovery field. Prospective candidates are also expected to have strong organizational, administrative, communicative and interpersonal skills, with demonstrated abilities to lead a productive multidisciplinary team and to develop effective strategic plan.〈更多內容〉

2017「和您一起」新春團拜
2017 Chinese New Year Celebration

為迎接新的一年到來，凝聚同仁情誼並分享新春和樂氣氛，本院於2月8日假行政大樓1樓大廳舉辦新春團拜。新春喜相逢首先由同仁互道恭喜、寒暄拜年，幼兒園大班的22位小朋友排成ㄇ字型，依序輪流帶來吉祥話，為活動增添熱鬧氣息。誠如幼兒園劉麗華園長所說，小朋友參與活動，除了可以瞭解傳統過年習俗外，也提供難得的課外學習機會。

余幸司代理院長在春節前的新春賀文，表達感謝全體同仁過去一年全力支持與齊心合作，代理期間推動之三大主軸院務，已完成如下：
主軸一：前瞻性卓越競爭力及特色研究規劃—完成本院未來十年研究發展之策略方向規劃報告書。
主軸二：強化核心工作能力與建置自動化管理系統—完成決策支援自動化管理系統2.0、建置特殊人才資料庫及建立終身學習制度等。
主軸三：全院規章修訂統整與爭議事件預防處理—增訂本院規章作業要點、建置全院規章統整機制與網頁、置入代理期間平和穩定發展機制等。期勉同仁新的一年面對嚴峻的經費緊縮與挑戰，能更上層樓加強研究成果，推出政策與產業創新研發等重點研究目標。〈更多內容〉
